How is the Quality of on Line Ink and Toner?
I’ve been in the printer cartridge business now since 2004 and have had the opportunity to witness many changes not the least being the quality of re manufactured ink & toner cartridges. From the day of individuals filling in their basement with no quality control to the present where large business’s using the latest equipment and quality control methods are putting out superb products. So how is one to know what is a quality printer cartridge and which are junk.
Well how about we start with price, like the old saying goes “You get what you pay for”. Anyone can go on-line and find fantastic deals for just about anything you can think of. Many of the items found on-line from reputable sellers are perfectly fine with well spelled out return policy’s and customer service to help you with any problems you may have. But then there are the other ones! You know who I’m talking about, the web sites that seem to sell the same items that the reputable business’s are selling for 1/3 the price. These are the ones you want to be careful of.
Here’s a good example of what I’m talking about. One of my customers that has been buying from us for quite some time went on-line to see if he could get a better price for a Brother TN-460 toner. Well of course he found a better price, in fact the price was fantastic, $16.00 for a toner that has a 6,000 page yield. We were selling this toner as a remanufactured for about $65.00, Staples price for the OEM (original Equipment Manufacturer) was just over $95.00, a nice $35.00 savings when buying from Ink & Toner Solutions. When you purchase a toner cartridge from us, you get a one year warranty and customer service for any questions you may have. If the cartridge is defective for any reason, we replace it free of charge and can get you a new one the next day.
Well our customer installed the $16.00 toner in his printer and it printed 500 sheets of documents then quit! Wow, what a deal. It was supposed to print 6,000 sheets, a little short I’d say. So he was stopped dead in his tracks, couldn’t print anymore, couldn’t get a hold of any one from the company by phone and even if he did I’m willing to bet they would not take the toner back and send out a new one. He learned first hand some of the trash you can buy on line. He came back to our company and said he would be buying from us from now on. He knows how we work and he knows he has someone locally that stands behind their products, it’s called peace of mind.
So before you fall for that low price on-line, and I’m talking about any product, read the return policy, see if there is a phone number for you to call if you need to talk to someone and for Pete’s sake, if the price seems to good to be true, it probably is.
